I got an email from the parent of a 6-YEAR-OLD player immediately after he got home from one of our hockey lessons.  The email read:

You’ll be happy to know…
 
When we got home tonight the first thing Dylan said to mommy was “guess what we did tonight?”   After a few guesses she gave up.  He replied “brain control”.

Good to know it’s sticking and he’s making that connection.

DJ Extreme Hockey Edges

At Strong Dynamics we teach players that the most important part of their hockey equipment is their brain.  Once they can “see” the technique they can then begin to master it.  By “see” I explain, I mean UNDERSTAND.   I tell the players that the eyes are just one way for them to take in information to tell their brains what to do, and that they need to use all of their senses to collect all the information.   Some of the best part of our Skills and Thrills Hockey Clinics is when the players are standing perfectly still, watching, listening and thinking about technique, the mechanics, the physics of hockey.

I got a follow-up email last night from that same parent of the player who practices brain control.  The email included a picture of Dylan demonstrating what he has accomplished through “brain control”… that is, some Extreme Edges and the ability to track and handle the puck!  Remember, he is only 6 years old!

The ice may be melted, and the Garden might not be cold for a few more months, but it’s never too early to start buying your tickets for the upcoming season. The 2011 Stanley Cup champions will be the hottest ticket in Boston this winter, and seats are going fast. The season opens with a bang on October 6^th, when the Flyers come to town. This contest promises to be a great game, as the Bruins begin their defense of the Cup against the team they swept on their way to win it. Don’t forget about those Montreal Canadians though; they visit the Garden for the first time on October 27^th in a much anticipated rivalry matchup. You might also be interested in seeing the Bruins take on the newly renovated Winnipeg Jets on November 27^th. And don’t forget about Sydney Crosby; you can see the kid and the rest of the Pittsburg Penguins on February 4^th. Start gearing up for the season Bruins fans, 2012 promises to be a ride.
